Obituary: Mary Inez Adams was born on 2, 1928 in Pittsburgh, PA. Mary was the oldest child of S.E. and Inez Keller. Mary grew up in Pittsburgh before moving to Pasadena, California. It was in Pasadena that Mary met the love of her life Ronald, her husband for over 59 years. Ronald would hitchhike off base to come and see Mary and together they traveled the country from military post to post. Moving as Ronalds career required and bringing their family along with them. Ronald retired so he and Mary moved to Richardson where they spent the rest of their days. Mary was the glue that held the family together. Through all the moving and changes, she was always there, taking care of everyone else. She was a Cub Scout Den Leader, supported Ron as a Little League Baseball Coach and brought bubblegum for Bruce and his teammates to every game, taught children to bowl when we lived on the base in Japan, and made sure the uniforms were all pristine and ready to wear, whether it was Dad's Chief's uniform or Bruce's Cub Scout uniform or Karen's Brownie uniform. No matter where or when the Navy issued orders for our family to move to next, mom was ready to help our family prepare and then get settled there. Not a life that many people could adapt to, but Mary insured the move was smooth for the family for moves from California, to Hawaii, to Chicago, to San Diego, to Japan, to Virginia and eventually settling in Richardson, Texas. Once they finally settled down, Mary worked as a senior clerk and switchboard operator at the Richardson Public Library, for almost 15 years, before she finally retired. Mary and Ron enjoyed traveling after retirement. drove through many States visiting family and many friends they made over the years. For a number of years, they flew to Hawaii every , to enjoy the beautiful weather, while the Dallas area was freezing. Hawaii was the first place Mary and Ron lived as newlyweds. Mary kept an immaculate house as noted when the family planned a surprise 25th Wedding Anniversary Party for Mary and Ron at their home. The family arrived early expecting to clean, organize, or simply pick things up a bit before the party and they found the house already clean and ready for the celebration. Mary goes on to join her husband Ronald, but she leaves behind her son Bruce Adams, her daughter Karen Adams, and Karens husband, James Young. Mary also leaves behind her sister, Patricia Hackney, her brother, Ed Keller, and many more extended family members and friends that will miss her dearly. A memorial mass will be held at the St. Mark Catholic Church of Plano, TX on 7th, 2016 at 11am. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice. |
