Obituary: It is with bittersweet joy that we announce that Joe Bob Acton has made his journey from this earthly realm into his Heavenly home. He passed peacefully 23, 2017 at his Burleson residence of 40 years surrounded by his family after days of uplifting visits from loved ones and friends. Joe Bob was born 23, 1936 in Quanah, Texas to Robert Oscar and Phyllis Ena Acton. He was welcomed by big sister Marlon and blessed later by two more sisters, Rosemary and Liz Ann. The Acton family relocated to Ft Worth, Texas after the outbreak of WWII when the patriarch went to work for the bomber plant. Joe Bob would spend the remainder of his life living in the metroplex and enjoy a career in the very same plant with General Dynamics / Lockheed. Joe Bob was a man's man and a Patriot tried & true. He loved everything Texas including enjoying fishing, camping and anything outdoors. He was a genuine cowboy having spent his adolescence working on a dude ranch. Aside from a cowboy hat, Joe Bob wore many other hats. He was an Eagle Scout, a National Guardsmen, a paratrooper in the US Army 82nd Airborne, a draft men and mechanical engineer, volunteer for Huguley Hospital and servant of the Lord. He was a natural carpenter / mechanic like his father, a real Mr Fix It. The man had a sharp wit and sense of humor that would tickle your funny bone. He loved all kinds of music from gospel to rock but country was his favorite by far! Joe Bob had many hobbies but his favorite was reading the Bible and any Christian book he could get his hands on. Oh how he loved the Lord Jesus Christ. Joe Bob is survived by his bride of 53 years Betty, their 3 children Benjamin, Bryan and Angela along with her husband John Salzwedel. Joe Bob has three grandchildren Alisha Lemons, Landon & Chase Salzwedel. He is also survived by his sister Rosemary Bell as well as an extended family of loving in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was blessed to have many longtime friends and an endearing church family. Joe Bob will be deeply missed but he found peace in the promise that we would all see him again someday...
