Obituary: Johnny F. Ackerman joined his sweetheart of 67 years in heaven on 15, 2016. Johnny was born in Houston on 18, 1924 to Mitzi and Louis Ackerman. He is survived by his five children, Rose Mary Beddingfield, Station, Tx., Cathy Johnson and husband, Dennis, Albuquerque, NM, Mary Clark and husband, Craig, Tony Ackerman and fiancé, Kelley Knake and Lisa Birdwell and husband, Gary, all of Houston. He is also survived by his brothers, Louis and wife, Yvonne, and Fred and wife, Archie. He leaves 13 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews who also adored him. Two years ago he lost his beloved wife, Shirley, and was also preceded in death by his sister, Mitzi Werckle Harris and his brother Marcel Ackerman.
He served in World War II in the South Pacific Theatre as a gunner on a B-29. He briefly worked for the Southern Pacific Railway before becoming a "Telephone Man." He loved his career and his friends at Southwestern Bell. retirement he continued to consult in the industry and finally quit working in his late 70's. His tireless energy earned him the nickname "Energizer Bunny." He and Shirley lived in Hunter's Creek Village for more than 50 years before moving to the Buckingham retirement community. Even as his own health deteriorated and dementia robbed him of his memory he kept his sense of humor and was always trying to help others. He never met a stranger and never failed to entertain with his quick wit. He was telling jokes to his doctors and caregivers until the very end. Even though earth is a little sadder heaven is a much happier place now.
His family would like to thank Liz and Julie and all the staff at the Buckingham and Plaza who were so kind to him. Also we owe a special thanks to all of the caregivers at LaDonna's Dream who showered him with affection as he adjusted to life without Shirley. His special angels included LaDonna, Mary, Teresa and Barbara.
He was an amazing husband, father and grandfather who always put his family first.
The family will receive friends on , 17, 2016 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm in the stateroom at Earthman Directors, 8303 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77024. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on , 18, 2016 at 10:30 am at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 11720 Joan of Arc Drive, Houston, TX 77024. Obituary: Janese P. Ackerman, 84, of Amarillo passed away 8, 2015.

Janese was born 7, 1931 in Oskaloosa, Kansas and was adopted as a baby by John and Anna Follis. She was an elementary school teacher for 4 years prior to marrying Carl Ackerman in Hoxie, KS in 1952. She owned her own cosmetic business for over 46 years. Together with Carl they enjoyed traveling by motorhome the lower 48 states and parts of Canada. are members of the International Good Sams Club and the Yellow Rose Chapter. provided motorhome support for 16 years for the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics. also worked the Good Sams Samborees for 10 years. have been residents of Amarillo since 1972 and are charter members of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. She enjoyed cross stitching, baking, and was a prolific reader.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her mother and father-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Ackerman; a nephew, Elliott Follis; and a step great-granddaughter, Abigale Neely.

Janese is survived by her husband; one daughter Nancy Harris and husband Jim of Amarillo; three sons, Douglas Ackerman, John Ackerman and wife Cindy, all of Amarillo, and Michael Ackerman and wife Kamie of Bertrand, NE; one brother, Doren Follis and wife Irene, of Hoxie KS; a half-sister Rosetta Wilson and husband Larry of Clarksville TN; five grandchildren; two step granddaughters; and seven step great-grandchildren.

Memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM, , 13, 2015, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church with Rev. Joe Andrajack and Chaplin John Elser officiating. Janese graciously and unselfishly gave the gift of her body to be used for the advancement of medical science. are by Schooler , 4100 S. Georgia.

Obituary: Edward M. Ackerman, born 23, 1928, in Dallas, TX, passed away peacefully at home on , 1, 2016, surrounded by his family. He is predeceased by his wife Helma Ackerman and is survived by his children Paula Ackerman Menendez (Douglas), David Ackerman (Caroline), Samantha Ackerman Simons, and Eddie Ackerman (Beth); his grandchildren Phillip, Emma and Lilly Simons, Reid and Owen Ackerman, and Sam and Sarah Menendez; and his niece Vicki Berler Pepper (Ken).

Ed was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and the University of Texas. He served as a lieutenant in the Air Force, stationed in Japan during the Korean War. Following his service, he did post-graduate study in finance at New York University before joining Salomon Brothers, and later returning to Dallas as their regional manager. Ed founded Ackerman Associates, L.P., Dallas first hedge fund, in 1969 and compiled an impressive track record of investment success until his retirement in 2007. He is also the founder of Ackerman Capital Management, an investment advisory firm that continues to thrive today.

As a philanthropist, Ed had a significant impact throughout the Dallas community. Much of his time and resources were dedicated to The Hockaday School, St. Marks School of Texas, the UT Southwestern Medical Foundation, Temple Emanu-El, the Ackerman for Holocaust Studies at the University of Texas at Dallas, the Dallas Holocaust Museum, Hebrew Union , and the Society for Classical Reform Judaism. He is remembered for his warmth, wisdom, humility, generosity, and as the loving patriarch of his family, which he considered his greatest legacy.

A memorial service will be held at Temple Emanu-El on , 5 at 11:30 am in Olan Sanctuary, with a reception immediately following. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to one of the organizations listed above.
