Obituary: Robert Bentley Abshire Jr. passed away , 11, 2016. He was born 31, 1932 in Mont Belvieu, Texas to Robert and Ruth Cooley-Abshire. attending schools in Beaumont and Odessa, Texas, he served four years in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Upon completion of his enlistment, he moved to Victoria, where he met his wife of 58 years, Charlyne. Following graduation from Sam Houston State Teachers he returned to the oil industry where he worked nationally and internationally. Although he traveled a lot, he always took time to support his childrens interests and activities. He retired from Homco International, Houston, Texas, where he had served as District Manager and later as Sales Manager. He then moved back to Victoria and worked as an oil service consultant. An avid sports fan, he loved hunting and the outdoors. He was an accomplished golfer and spent many hours golfing with friends and business associates. He is survived by his wife, Charlyne, son, Russell B. Abshire and wife Kathy, of Houston, Texas. Daughter, Andrea Lynn Rice and husband Steve, of Baytown, Texas. Four grandchildren; Kelly Abshire, Matthew Abshire, Jacob Abshire, of Houston, Texas and Nicholas Rice, of Baytown, Texas. Sister in law, Betty Abshire of Tomball, Texas. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Bentley Abshire, mother Ruth Abshire McCright, and brother Jack Marvin Abshire. Private family graveside services will be held at Memory Gardens with a flag folding ceremony by the Victoria Veterans Council. Memorial services will be held , 15, 2016 at 11 AM at Rosewood Chapel with Rev. David Hudson officiating. Honorary Pallbearers are James Steven Andres, Fritz Baumgartner, Howard Bludau, James Dishman, Mickey Kloth, Wilbur Motley, and Monte Salyer. God called him home on 23, 2014 in Pasadena, Texas. Olidie graduated in 1946 from Gueydan High School in Gueydan, Louisiana and married Margaret Helen Murphy in Gueydan, Louisiana on 19, 1948 after serving two years as a cook in the United States Navy. Preceded in death by his parents, Ovie & Philomena Abshire, Sister Gussie Gorris, Daughter Patricia Ann Abshire Bland, Son, Olidie J. “Mann” Abshire Jr. and Granddaughter Karyn Danise Bland Day, Olidie loved his family dearly.
