Obituary: REAS HAROLD ALLEN passed from this life to the next Nov 15, 2011 at the age of 89 ½ years, in Portland OR from age related causes. He was born on 11, 1922 in Horton Kansas to Harris Floyd Allen and Gladys Pauline Axtell Allen. He was one of 8 children: Jack, Glen, Reas, Robert, Betty, Ruth, Nellie, and Wilma. Wilma is his only surviving sibling. Reas married Ruth Donalea Jones on Nov 29, 1941. Their family and friends just celebrated their 70 years together on Oct 29th which Reas thoroughly enjoyed. Reas was best described as a Jack of all trades. Over the years, he worked as a meat cutter, a carpenter/cabinet maker, a truck driver, Sports Equipment supervisor for the David Douglas School District, and furniture and auto upholsterer. In fact, there wasn much he couldn or hadn attempted to do! He loved woodworking, sewing, Gardening, writing poetry, and spending time with his family. Reas was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints and attended the Mt. Scott Ward. He served in many positions of the church, including a Temple worker in the Portland Oregon Temple. Reas and Ruth lived in many places the first years of their marriage. settled 53 ½ years ago in their house on Boise Street in SE Portland, where they raised their 7 children. Two years ago, Reas and Ruth moved to Cascade Terrace Facility in SE Portland. Reas is survived by his wife, Ruth of Portland OR; Children: Linda Card and husband Hal, of Saratoga Springs UT; Sandra Armstrong and husband Eric, of Eagle Mt. Utah; Cathy Dover and husband Mikel, of Gresham OR; Lorna DeRoest and husband Tony, of Portland, OR; sons: Lonnie Allen and wife Sandy, of Ocean Park WA; Ronnie Allen and wife Pam, of Gresham OR. Reas was proceeded in death by his oldest daughter, Sharon of Plain City Utah; and his oldest grandson, Scott Card of Monrovia CA. Reas was the proud grandfather of 28, and great grandfather of 35 with 2 more on the way as of this writing. Lincoln Memorial will be Reass final resting place. A family memorial service will be held at a future date.
