Obituary: Nancy Jean Moore Angel, 81, of Charlotte, passed away peacefully at Southminister Retirement Community of Charlotte, on May 11th, 2017. Nancy was born in of 1935 in Winston-Salem, NC. She was the daughter of the late Charlie and Janie Moore. Nancy met her late husband, James Angel, by chance on a afternoon when he was driving by her home. were married in of 1955 and lived in Winston-Salem, Greensboro and finally Charlotte. Nancy was very involved with her community, primarily through Cokesbury United Methodist Church. She participated in many activities, committees and ministries within Cokesbury and the Western North Carolina Conference of The United Methodist Church. Nancy was an excellent homemaker, loved her family and friends, and could always be counted on to help anyone in need. She also enjoyed bridge, square dancing, golf, the beach, the mountains, and the Carolina Panthers. Nancy is survived by her sister Sylvia Knox (Eddie); children Randy Angel (Mary), Gary Angel (Teresa), and Alecia Johnson (Don); grandchildren Chelsea Angel, Logan Angel, JD Angel (Stephanie), Charles Johnson, and James Johnson. The family would like to thank Southminster Retirement Community, Synergy , and Hospice of Charlotte for the excellent services they provided Nancy. We also thank Cissy, Amanda, Debbie, , Jeanne, and various others professionals for the excellent personal care they provided Nancy during her final years. The family also gives great appreciation to Rhoda, and Ashlee for their devotion to and care of Nancy as she came to the end. And finally we cannot give enough thanks and praise to Yolanda. The many years of exemplary care she provided Nancy were beyond what words can adequately express. The funeral will be held on , May 17th, 2:00 p.m., at Cokesbury United Methodist Church, 6701 Idlewild Road, Charlotte, NC 28212. The family will receive visitors at Cokesbury from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to the funeral. Interment will be at Sharon Memorial Park, 5716 Monroe Rd, Charlotte, NC 28212. In lieu of flowers you may make a memorial donation to Cokesbury United Methodist Church, 6701 Idlewild Road, Charlotte, NC 28212. |

Obituary: Mary Ann Bryson Angel was born in Cullowhee, NC, on 3, 1913. Her parents were Coleman Vance Bryson and Palestine Bowen Bryson. Mary Ann was the youngest of four children, and at 102, was the one who lived the longest. Her parents were farmers, and they also provided housing for some of the professors who taught at Western Carolina . While growing up, Mary Ann had numerous friends, among them was her best friend Martha Lou Hunter, whose father was college president. Mary Ann wanted to go to college but didn’t have the money, so her mother, Palestine (otherwise known as Tiny), sold milk, butter and eggs to the Hunters, to help with Mary Ann’s college tuition. graduating from college in 1933 with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education, she married Herbert Angel, whom she had met in her classes. Herbert was from Macon , where they lived and worked as teachers for several years. Their next move was to Haywood (Waynesville), where Mary Ann continued teaching in elementary schools(Cataloochee, Saunook, Maggie, Bethel), and Herbert began his work in the monument business. In the early 1960’s, she was offered a position to become the first speech therapist for Haywood school system. She returned to Western Carolina University and obtained a Master’s Degree in Speech and Hearing. Mary Ann worked as speech therapist in Haywood until retirement in 1976. She thoroughly enjoyed her work and loved all of her students. Also during this time, Mary Ann, Herbert and their daughter, Judith, moved to Enka/Candler, as Herbert’s memorial business had grown. He developed and incorporated Forest Lawn . The Angels were members of Montmorenci Methodist Church in Candler and during this time, became active volunteers for Asheville Buncombe Christian Ministry (ABCCM). Mary Ann moved to Pigeon Valley Rest (Canton) in 2001, following the death of her husband Herbert. She subsequently moved to Silver Bluff Village in 2015. She was very appreciative of the care and fond of the new friends she made in both places. On the evening of 4, 2016, Mary Ann died peacefully in her room, her sister- in- law at her side. Mary Ann is survived by her daughter, Judith Angel, of New York City. Visitation and funeral services will be held on , 9 2016 at 11:00AM, at Garrett , 460 North Main St., in Waynesville.
