Obituary: Alice was full of life and loved to entertain, making all in her presence feel welcome. She didn't know a stranger. a valiant fight against Multiple Myeloma she went home to be with her Savior Jesus and her husband Rod of 45 years. Alice was born in , CA and moved to Bakersfield in 1963. graduating from North High in 1968, she went to work at Contel as a keypunch operator. In 1970 she began her career of 34 years with the Kern High School District. taking a leave to care for her young daughters and to earn her AA she was rehired in 1983 as a programmer. In 1998 Alice was named Director of Data Processing. She retired in 2010 allowing her and her husband Rod to travel often and to spend time with their grandkids. Alice is survived by her daughters, Leandrea and Ryan Slayton (son-in-law), Amy and Ryan Young (son-in-law), grandchildren, Conner and Brynna Slayton Colby, Jared, and Brady Young, sisters Sarah Dickey (and husband Ron), Sherry Peladeau ( and husband James), Judy Love (and husband Ernie), and sister-in-laws, Carole Hunter (and husband Charlie), and Benda Gooch. Visitation will be , 8 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Hillcrest. The memorial service will be at Riverlakes Church, 9 at 10:00 a.m, with graveside following at Hillcrest Memorial Park. |

Obituary: L. Aversente passed away on of respiratory failure. She will be greatly missed by her family, students, friends, members of her church and music community. was born in San Jose, CA, grew up on the family's Williams Road Ranch and graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1956. She then attended San Jose State and studied Music. dedicated over 55 years to teaching piano and music and with her brother James Aversente founded the Santa Clara Music Arts Institute. was a consummate concert pianist. She accompanied many choirs, singers and musicians throughout her career. Her main love though was always teaching piano and she received great joy through the years teaching thousands of beloved students by giving them the gift of music. also volunteered for many years at El Camino and Stanford Hospitals and at Queen of Apostles Church in San Jose as an RCIA leader. is preceded in death by her mother, Lucille Aversente, her father, Frank Aversente and her brother James Aversente. leaves behind many caring friends and colleagues. loved God, reading, movies, her poodles, travel, but most of all piano, music and the arts. Her love, friendship, generosity, charity, sense of humor and strength were an inspiration to all. Visitation will be held on , 28, 2015 from 5-9PM with Rosary at 6PM at Lima Family Santa Clara Mortuary, 466 N. Winchester Blvd., Santa Clara. The Mass will be held on , 29, 2015 at 11AM at Queen of Apostles Parish, 4911 Moorpark Ave., San Jose. Interment to follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park. |
