Obituary: Thelma Pansy Spear Atkins, 93, of Ventura, passed away on , 22, 2015. She was born 4, 1921, in Fort Benton, Montana to Bert and Pansy Spear. Thelmas family moved from Montana to a farm in Four Lakes, Washington. It was the rural farm life that instilled in Thelma a love of gardening, canning and quilting. Later in life she would become active with her children as a 4-H leader. She was an award winning seamstress and Senior Bowler. During World War II, Thelma served as a Pharmacist Mate 3rd Class in the United States Navy. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Bill Koberstein of Spokane, WA, LaVonne and Larry Driver of Ventura, Connie and Richard Ward of Arlington, TX; grandchildren, Scott (Stephanie) Koberstein, Kristy (Earnie) Stephens, Michael Ward, Nicholas Driver and Nathaniel (Amanda) Driver; seven great grandchildren; brother, Delbert Spear of Spokane, WA; sister, Doreen Kafer of Bothell, WA, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Roscoe Atkins, in May of last year. Visitation will take place , 25 and 26, Noon until 5PM, at the Ted Mayr , 3150 Loma Vista Road, Ventura. Graveside services will be held , 27, 2015, 11:00 AM, at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, Ventura, with The Reverend Dan Hull officiating. Obituary: Roscoe William Atkins, 93, of Ventura, California, passed away on , May 27, 2014. He was born in Omaha, Nebraska on 11, 1920 to Roscoe and Myrtle Atkins. He attended and graduated high school in Wichita, Kansas. Roscoe joined the United States Army in 1940 and served in the South Pacific for three years during World War II. He reenlisted in the Air Force for two terms and remained in the Reserves. Roscoe worked for Western Union as a Plant Tech for 30 years. He was involved in the Eagles of Spokane. Roscoe enjoyed hunting, boating and everything outdoors, except shoveling snow. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roscoe and Myrtle Atkins and two sisters, Mildred and Christine. Roscoe is survived by his wife of 69 years, Thelma (Spear) Atkins of Ventura, California; daughters, Karen (Bill) Koberstein, LaVonne (Larry) Driver and Connie (Richard) Ward; 5 grandchildren, Scott (Stephanie) Koberstein, Kristy (Ernie) Stephens, Michael Ward, Nicholas Driver and Nathaniel (Amanda) Driver; 7 great grandchildren; and a niece and nephew. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Oakhurst Hospice and Aegis Living of Ventura for the support and care in Roscoes final days. A Graveside Service will take place on , 2, 2014, 11:00 am, at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, 5400 Valentine Road, Ventura. The United States Air Force will render military honors.
