Obituary: Dr. Parviz Solomon Ataii On , 31st 2010, we lost a kind and loving father, a gentle, caring and devoted husband, and an exemplary member of the human family. Although we know that the pure soul of our beloved Dr. Ataii is now rejoicing in the Realms on high, yet we must confess that he is sorely missed by all. Dr. Parviz Solomon Ataii was born in 1933 in the city of Malayer, in Iran. His parents who were Bahais raised him in accordance with the tenets of the Bahai Faith which taught him to love and respect not only his family and friends, but the entire human race. His childhood and early youth were spent in Tehran. graduating from High School, he went to the University of Tabriz where he received his Doctorate in Pharmacy. He returned to Tehran to practice pharmacy. Wherever he resided, he was an active member of the Bahai community. Besides studying and serving with beloved Dr. Massih Farhangi, a prominent Bahai in Tehran, he was active in many spheres, including teaching childrens classes. In 1968 he found his soul mate in the young, beautiful Goli Kazemi whom he married soon thereafter. Together, they raised three wonderful children, Payam, Pooya and Parandush, all of whom are now professionally active in their own fields and of service to humanity. Dr. Ataii was not only in love with his profession but endeavored to bring creativity and innovation to it as well. In 1977, he came up with a special formula for a face cream that was used by the actress who played the lead role in the Hollywood production of "Solomon & Sheba." Dr. Ataiis achievement was highly praised and widely covered by the media of the time. Dr. Ataii was a tenacious lover of life. He worked hard, and faced trials and tribulations with courage, patience and a contagious positive attitude. He was humorous and good natured, and the perpetual smile on his face was evidence of his deep faith and true conviction. Shortly after the onset of the Iranian Revolution, and in the face of continuous threats, Dr. Ataii left his homeland in 1979. Accompanied by his wife, Goli, and two small children, Payam and Pooya, he immigrated to the United States where God blessed them with a third child, Parandush. Life was hard. Dr. Ataii had no choice but to start from the beginning. With resilience, resolve and perseverance he managed to make a new life for himself and his family, and put his three children successfully through college and graduate school. He rejoiced as he watched them grow and develop in their respective fields, get married, and make him a proud grandfather. Dr. Parviz Ataii was a lover of Iran and Iranian history, music, poetry, geography, and nature. He played both the violin and santour well, and recited hundreds of verses of poetry by heart. His luminous face and radiant smile, coupled with his ever gracious courteousness and humility made him a unique personality, easy to love, hard to forget. His unending love and devotion to his family strengthened his resolve to fight the debilitating cancer that was to tear him away from them. It was during the weeks and months of his deteriorating health that the true measure of his character was revealed: immense perseverance and eternal optimism. On 31st, 2010 at 8:07 AM his pure spirit finally winged its flight to the Kingdom of the True Beloved. He may be gone from our eyes but will never leave our hearts. While he is rejoicing at his new birth in a spiritual world beyond our comprehension, blissful at his reunion with the denizens of the Eternal Realms of God, we will continue to honor and remember him for the generosity of his spirit, the integrity of his character, the depth of his convictions and the joy and happiness he bestowed not only on his own family, but upon all who had the privilege of crossing paths with him in his fruitful sojourn on this earthly plane. All are welcome to join the family at the memorial service being held , 14, 2010 at 4:00pm, which will be held at the Los Angeles Bahai located at 5755 Rodeo Road, Los Angeles, CA 90016.
