Obituary: WILLIE L. SMOKEY ALLEN, 77 LAKE PROVIDENCE, LOUISIANA Cox Oak Grove, Louisiana LAKE PROVIDENCE, LA - services for Mr. Willie L. (Smokey) Allen, age 77, will be held , 25, 2016 at 3 p.m. at Cox Chapel in Oak Grove with Bro. Mike Ray and Bro. Pat Lofton officiating. Mr. Allen went home to be with his Lord and Master on , 24, 2016, at his home after a battle with cancer. Interment will follow in Oak Grove . Services are under the direction of Cox of Oak Grove. Mr. Allen was preceded in death by his parents, Robert T. and Rosie B. Allen; two sisters, Gloria Jean Lair and Clara Mae Allen; and five brothers, Marvin Allen, Charlie Allen and Otis Allen, Elton Eugene Allen and Horace Lee Allen. Mr. Allen was born 19, 1938 on the Bayou Macon near Kilbourne. He was a faithful member of Lanes Ferry Baptist Church. He has served in the capacity of deacon, teacher and guitarist. He had a love of music and played guitar, as well as several other instruments. He was a talented carpenter for many years, but worked in many other capacities during his lifetime including Scoggins Building Supply, the Otasco Store, Commonwealth Life Insurance, and Redmond Mitchiner. Smokey enjoyed many years of hunting squirrel, rabbit and deer as well as fishing for catfish and white perch. In later years, he enjoyed sitting on the front porch watching all the wildlife including the squirrels playing in the trees on the riverbank and the hummingbirds feeding on the porch. Mr. Allen was a lover of Gods creation, especially the creeks, rivers and mountains of Arkansas. His favorite thing to do was spend time with his great grandson whom he considered his best buddy. He was a Godly man, faithful husband, loving and giving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle. He worked hard all of his life and was very active until he became ill just a short while back. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Betty Allen, a daughter, Kaye Allen; a grandson, Bobby Crnkovic; a granddaughter, Jennifer Crnkovic; a great grandson, Cameron Kinney; one sister Mary Davis; four brothers, Calvin Allen, Bobby Allen, James Allen, and Otha Allen; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and numerous friends. Pallbearers are Junior Boyte, Roger Maxwell, Larry Harrison, Earl Bankston, Kyle Harper, and Rowdy Sanderson. Honorary pallbearers are Wayne Allen, Paul Allen, Keith Boyte, and Cecil Boyte. The family would especially like to thank Bro. Mike Ray, Dr. George Fakhre, Kelly Bennett, Dr. Maroun Hayek, Tina Welborne of West Carroll , the staff of Premier Hospice, and their family members and friends who have stood by them in this difficult time. |
