Obituary: Frank de la Houssaye Agnew, a native of New Orleans, died on 10, 2016. Del was the beloved husband of Jamie May Agnew of Frankfort, Kentucky and the proud and loving father of four children - Maggie, Del, Sarah and Quarles. Del attended lower school at Holy Name of Jesus in New Orleans and middle school at Christian Brothers Academy. He remained close friends with many of his classmates decades later. Del graduated from De LaSalle High School in 1978 and was a member of the State Champion golf team in 1978. Del continued his education – and his golf career–at Washington and Lee University where he was a member of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity. He received a B.S. in Accounting, graduating Cum Laude in 1982. He was a scholar-athlete, receiving all-Conference Honors in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. He was awarded the Cy Twombly Award as the Most Improved Player in 1981. Del received his MBA, with a concentration in Finance, from Tulane University before spending 17 years as an investment banker at Howard Weil, Morgan Keegan and Johnson Rice and . In 2002 he co-founded startup firm EquityMetrix, an Oil and Gas royalty service company. He joined local insurance firm Gillis, Ellis and Baker in 2015 as Director of Alternative Risk Transfer. A devout Catholic, Del was a committed adorer at the Holy Name Adoration Chapel on mornings. He attended mass at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Having met in college, Del and Jamie were inseparable, whether spending time as a couple, with family or with their many friends. Their love for each other was inspirational and their marriage was a great example for all who knew them. Del was the consummate family man, making time with Jamie and his children a priority. Always in full support of his children’s endeavors, he attended school functions, cross country meets, volleyball games, little league games and any sporting event in which his daughters were cheerleading. For over 30 years, Del spent many mornings – always at 7:40 or 7:48 - with a close group of friends dubbed “SMGA”. Armed at times with his trusty, yet erratic, one-iron, he played with his friends as a true golf purist - never hitting a shot that he truly loved and critiquing every single swing. But it really wasn’t about the golf, it was about the laughter and the friends – as it always was with Del. Del’s list of friends was both wide and deep. A great conversationalist, he was friendly, personable, and inquisitive. He could talk to anyone with a casual grace that was sincere and engaged. He loved a good debate and, even if wrong, was rarely in doubt. Del will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He will always be remembered for his permanent smile and his rich friendship. Del is survived by his mother Elizabeth Hanton de la Houssaye Agnew and three brothers Thomas James Agnew of Dallas, TX (Gayle), Samuel Gerard Agnew of Tampa, FL (Dede), and Alexander Hanton Agnew of Hattiesburg, MS (Leigh); his mother-in-law Christine Rankin May of Frankfurt, KY. and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Adams Agnew. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at ST. FRANCIS XAVIER CATHOLIC CHURCH, 444 Metairie Road, on , 15, 2016 at 11:30 AM. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM. Interment will follow in Metairie . In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the following: Metairie Park Country Day School, The Academy of the Sacred Heart or St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. |
