Obituary: Gary Lee Ayers died peacefully at University Hospital on 20, 2016 in Indianapolis, Indiana at the age of 61. Gary is survived by his Wife, Sue Ellen Ayers of Fishers, Indiana; his Sons: Michael Ayers of Seattle, Washington; Chris (Melanie) Ayers of Fishers, Indiana; his Daughter, Emalee Speers of Fishers, Indiana, his Step-daughters, Amy (Mike) LaFata of Pittsboro, Indiana; Kelly (John) Curry of Lizton, Indiana; his Grandchildren, Andrew Ayers, Audrey Ayers and Justin Curry. His Siblings Mary Emma (John) Hoskins, Priscilla (Bill) Wright, Richard (Sue) Ayers, Wanda Gentry, Jim (Patty) Padgett and preceded in death by his brother Roy Ayers. Gary was born on 6, 1954 in Rushville, Indiana. graduating from Carmel High School in 1972, Gary joined the U.S. Navy as a Missile Radar Technician. He was a Vietnam Veteran, spending 6 years of active service in the Navy and worked as a Sales Representative for Acres Building Supply. His family remembers him as a friendly, fun-loving person who liked to be the life of the party. Gary loved his grandchildren more than anything and spent every weekend traveling across central Indiana to attend their football, wrestling, baseball and basketball games. Gary was also very passionate about supporting charitable events that promoted diabetes awareness. Gary was fanatical about two things in life; basketball and golf. He was a devoted individual who loved to be active and always wanted to be on the golf course or the basketball court. He was an active and dedicated member of the American Legion Post 155 in Carmel, Indiana and often volunteered to help raise money for their charity golf outings that supported the Soldiers and Sailors Childrens of Knightstown, Indiana before its closing in 2009.
