Obituary: Doris M. Ashburn, 91, of Kokomo, passed away at 6:45 AM, , 22, 2016 at Meadowood Pavilion in Bloomington. She was born on 11, 1924 in Kokomo, Indiana to the late Benjamin and Eva (Anderson) Robinson. She married Raymond Ashburn on 2, 1946 in Kokomo, and he preceded her in death on May 27, 1984. Doris graduated from Kokomo High School in 1942. Doris was very active in organizing Kokomo High School Alumni reunions. Before Doris became a full-time homemaker, she worked at Delco Radio for 9 years. She enjoyed knitting and spending time with her family in Indiana and Florida. In the past, Doris suffered a life-threatening injury that required her to receive blood. From that experience, she became a huge advocate of blood donation through American Red Cross. She volunteered for over 20 years for American Red Cross working for Howard/Tipton Chapter office and blood mobiles. Doris was awarded Volunteer of the Year award once during that time. Doris is survived by daughter-in-law, Susan (Fletcher) Ashburn, Bloomington; three grandchildren, Dr. Heather (Karl) Franklin, Holly (Matt) Harvey, and Scott (Heather) Ashburn; eight great-grandchildren; two nieces, Sharon (Rick) Crandall, Longwood, FL., and Suzanne (Mark) Slusher, Greentown; and nephew, James (Hilda) Robinson, Orlando, FL.; great nieces and nephews; and great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Mark Ashburn; three brothers, Darvin, Dorvil, and Roy Robinson; and sister, Norma Jean (Henry) Stahl. The funeral service will be held for Doris at 12:00 P.M. on , 25, 2016 at Ellers Mortuary Main Street Chapel, 725 South Main Street with Pastor David Osborne officiating. Burial will follow at Kokomo Memorial Park. Doriss family will be receiving relatives and friends for a time of visitation on from 11:00 A.M. till the time of the service also at the mortuary. Memorial contributions would be appreciated to the American Red Cross. |

Obituary: Gerald Thomas Jerry Ashabranner 74 years of age died 25, 2010 at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany. Jerry was born 27, 1935 in New Albany to the late William and Stella (Bunch) Ashabranner. He was an Army veteran and a former employee with the old Taystee Bakery Louisville. Jerry was active with the Clarksville Little Generals Football League, Clarksville Little League, a 40 year volunteer with Parkwood Elementary School, and a judge for Odyssey of the Mind Student Achievement Program on the regional and world levels. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Jeffersonville, American Legion Post #35 in Jeffersonville, and a 30 year member of Clarksville Optimist Club. Jerry was preceded in death by his brothers William and Richard Ashabranner, and sisters Stella Hancock and Martha Dempsey. Survivors include wife of 30 years, Peggy Ashabranner; sons Kevin Thomas Ashabranner of Sellersburg, IN, James Brian Ashabranner of Nashville, TN; daughter Kim Marie Kruer (Joseph) of Greenville, IN; step-sons Gregory Steven Lawson of New Albany, IN, Jeffery Scott Lawson (Shannon) of Clarksville, IN; step-daughter Karen Lynn Lawson of Jeffersonville, IN sisters Letha Marie Andres of New Albany, IN, Cleo Jane Prechtel of Jeffersonville, IN; grandchildren Elizabeth Marie Kruer Hutchins, Joseph Patrick Forest Kruer, Brandon Steven Lawson, Brent Scott Lawson, and Aaron Joseph Lawson; great grandchildren Karlie Marie Hutchins and Kyle Patrick Hutchins; numerous nieces and nephews Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Kraft Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana. His Service will be held 10:00 am at the Kraft Chapel with entombment and military honors to follow in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
