Obituary: Charlotte Jeanette Crawford Abney, age 73, passed away - Nov. 20, 2014 at her residence. Mrs Abney was born in Ringgold, Ga., to the late Tom and Martha Griffin Crawford. She lived most of her life in Ringgold, where she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ringgold. She had worked at Tri- Hospital (Hutcheson Medical ) in the x-ray Department and had also worked as an Estee Lauder Sales Representative. Mrs. Abney enjoyed shopping and had a great eye for home decorating. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Andrew Andy Abney; sister, Joyce Harris; brothers, Gene and Kenny Crawford. Mrs. Abney is survived by her husband of 53 years, Raymond Lee Abney Jr., of Ringgold; son, Raymond Lee Abney III, of Clermont, Fla.; grandchildren, Raymond Lee Abney IV and Charlotte Gabriella Abney; several nieces and nephews. Obituary: Elizabeth Park Tuten Faulk Abney, born 12, 1927 in Macon, Georgia, stepped through the gates of Heaven , morning at 9:25 a.m. surrounded by her loving husband and her children and their families, after suffering a heart attack that began silently on evening at her home. services and a victory celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m., at Snows Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue with burial in Riverside . Rev. David Sapp will officiate. The family will meet friends from 1 p.m. to service time on at the funeral home and may be contacted at the residence of Susan and Tom Burford. Daughter of the late James Greene Tuten, Sr. and May Park Tuten, Elizabeth, or Betty as she was known to schoolmates, family and friends, grew up in Macon living her childhood days on Arlington Place with her late brother, James Greene Tuten, Jr. She graduated from A. L. Miller High School for Girls and received her certification as a Medical Technologist from the Macon Hospital, the same place her Mother had graduated Nurses School in 1920. She enjoyed many years of not only working in the medical community but teaching and training other technologists as well. When the Houston Hospital was established, she set up the Lab and ran it as Dr. McEvers right hand. Betty also sold real estate for a number of years in Macon and she retired in later years to care for her Aunt whom was stricken with cancer. Bettys real work began after her Aunts death as a prayer warrior and minister of the Gospel. She was a member of Vineville Baptist Church and choir for many years, active in the XYZ club and Grace School Class. Later she moved to High Point Church, always looking for opportunities to spread he Word she took in unwed mothers into her home as an active advocate for Save-A-Life. She continued her calling working with Awakening Fires Tent Ministries and Redeeming Hope Ministries as well. Her current church home, Beth Yeshua International Messianic Jewish Fellowship and its members meant so much to her and her husband, Billy. In 1950, Betty married Joe W. Faulk, Jr. of Twiggs and during the twenty years of their marriage she was an active member of New Richland Baptist Church and together, they reared their five children there. Betty would be celebrating her twelfth wedding anniversary to Billy Abney on May 30th. learning that the Hebrew meaning for the number eight was ew beginnings, she was so looking forward to celebrating her eighty-eighth birthday on 12th. She had said many times it would be double new beginnings. Her family is celebrating her ew beginning a little early with her arrival in her heavenly home. Betty is survived by her husband, Rev. Obituary: Beth Mobley Abney passed away 9 at Brookdale Senior Living in a, Georgia. A memorial service will be held , 13 at 2 p.m. at Chapelwood United Methodist Church in Athens where she was a member until moving to a in 2005. The family will receive visitors at the church for an hour before the memorial service. A private burial will be held at Evergreen Memorial Park in Athens immediately following the service. Mrs. Abney, widow of the late George Morris Abney, Jr., was born 15, 1928 in Whigham, GA, and was a daughter of the late Clarence Albert Mobley and Nettie Sue Mobley. Mrs. Abney was a graduate of the Whigham Public Schools at the age of 15 and was the class valedictorian. She began school at the age of 4 following her older brother to school and continuing to beg her parents to let her attend school every morning. She went to Business School in Atlanta and attended night classes while working for the Railroad Express Agency. She transferred to the University of Georgia and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism Degree in 1956 and a Masters Degree in History in 1957. Beth met her husband, George, on the steps of the Journalism School when he was working on his Masters Degree. married in 1958 and had a daughter in 1960. Mrs. Abney worked as a freelance writer doing Publicity for Athens area organizations. She also authored a book, Thanksgiving Every Week, published in 1975 which was a collection of 52 essays of things for which she was thankful. Her cooking columns appeared in the Athens Banner-Herald. Mrs. Abney was proud of her cookie trays, which she began giving as Christmas gifts in 1958 because as a newlywed couple, they could not afford to purchase gifts. She earned the nickname of The Cookie Lady and authored a booklet of cookie recipes A Bakers Dozen from The Cookie Lady. Besides cooking and writing, her other interests included genealogy, history and the University of Georgia. She was a member of the Laura Rutherford Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, the Elijah Clarke Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a founding member of the Athens Historical Society. In lieu of flowers and in honor of her love of reading and believing that teaching a child to read is one of lifes greatest gifts, the family is requesting memorials to be made to the Athens-Clarke Library, 2025 Baxter Street, Athens, GA 30606. She is survived by her daughter, Sue Ellen Abney-Roberts and son-in-law, David Roberts of Aiken, SC; her sister, Shirley Whitley (Charles) of Eastman, GA; her brothers, Curtis (Jackie) Mobley of Columbia, SC and Benny Mobley of Whigham, GA.; sister-in-law, Virginia Mobley of West Palm Beach, FL; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Frances and Lauren Coile of Sanibel Island, FL and many beloved nieces and nephews. Her husband and her parents; her infant sister, Dorothy Louise Mobley; her brother, Joe Mobley; and her sister-in-law, Martha Mobley, preceded her in death.
